چکیده

We study the diffusive motion of a (non-selfinteracting) chain through a quenched random environment, constructed such that it influences only the local dynamics but not the equilibrium configuration of the chain. Our Monte Carlo results show that this type of disorder, which we call kinematic, does not ruin reptation. This is in sharp contrast to disorder including also entropic traps and it supports the view that reptation prevails in melts, where in contrast to a gel entropic trapping is absent. Our data show the characteristic features of reptation, irrespective of the dilution or randomness of the kinematic obstacles. Our Monte Carlo results are in quantitative agreement with our recent detailed analytical evaluation of the reptation model (J. Stat. Phys. 90, 1325 (1998)). The analysis suggests that we effectively see reptation of a “blob”-chain, where the size of the blob rapidly increases with decreasing obstacle concentration. Reptational dynamics in dissipative particle dynamics simulations of polymer melts.

Understanding the fundamental properties of polymeric liquids remains a challenge in materials science and soft matter physics. Here, we present a simple and computationally efficient criterion for topological constraints, i.e., uncrossability of chains, in polymeric liquids using the dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) method. No new length scales or forces are added. To demonstrate that this ...

Dynamics of single polymers under extreme confinement

We study the dynamics of a single-chain polymer confined to a twodimensional cell. We introduce a kinetically constrained lattice gas model that preserves the connectivity of the chain, and we use this kinetically constrained model to study the dynamics of the polymer at varying densities through Monte Carlo simulations. Even at densities close to the fully packed configuration, we find that th...

Diffusion coefficient for reptation of polymers with kinematic disorder

We give a lower bound on the diffusion coefficient of a polymer chain in an entanglement network with kinematic disorder, which is obtained from an exact calculation in a modified Rubinstein–Duke lattice gas model with periodic boundary conditions. In the limit of infinite chain length we show the diffusive motion of the polymer to be slowed down by kinematic disorder by the same factor as for ...

CONTROL OF CHAOS IN A DRIVEN NON LINEAR DYNAMICAL SYSTEM

We present a numerical study of a one-dimensional version of the Burridge-Knopoff model [16] of N-site chain of spring-blocks with stick-slip dynamics. Our numerical analysis and computer simulations lead to a set of different results corresponding to different boundary conditions. It is shown that we can convert a chaotic behaviour system to a highly ordered and periodic behaviour by making on...

Stability of Three-Wheeled Vehicles with and without Control System

In this study, stability control of a three-wheeled vehicle with two wheels on the front axle, a three-wheeled vehicle with two wheels on the rear axle, and a standard four-wheeled vehicle are compared. For vehicle dynamics control systems, the direct yaw moment control is considered as a suitable way of controlling the lateral motion of a vehicle during a severe driving maneuver. In accorda...
